Obituary of Jean Diana O'Brien
Jean Diana (Vigliotta) O’Brien, 87, of Lynn, died Friday afternoon surrounded by her loving family at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert J. O’Brien.
Born in Revere, she was the daughter of the late Gennaro and Mary (Christallo) Vigliotta. She was a life-long resident of Lynn and a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.
Jean dedicated her life to her family and raised three beautiful children. After her children were grown, she worked at Randy’s Department Store for many years. She enjoyed bowling, Bocci, was an avid Red Sox fan, and she especially enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City as well.
Jean is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Brad Smith of Peabody and Debra and Jack Barry of Lynn, her brother-in-law, Fred Rappa of Revere, her beloved 7 grandchildren, Deborah Smith, Michelle Smith, Melissa Brunet, Meghan Surprise, Jenna Smith, Courtney O’Brien and Kelly O’Brien and is also survived by nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Robert, she was predeceased by her son Robert J. O’Brien, Jr, her siblings, Gennaro, Patrick “Sonny”, and Robert A. Vigliotta, Rita Rappa, Ida Durant, Lena Serino, Ann Rappa, Mary Noyer, and Evelyn McDermott.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church, Boston St, Lynn to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to a charity of one's choice.
