Obituary of Jarrod Scott Bates

Lynn - Jarrod S. Bates, age 40 of Lynn, died Friday, April 3, 2020 after a long battle with addiction. Born in Melrose, MA. to Nancy (Diamond) Comeau and Paul Bates. Jarrod was a graduate of Lynn English High School in 1998 and was voted the class clown. He was a standout basketball and football player during his time at English. He will be remembered for his clutch shooting and his passion for sports. Jarrod worked as a warehouse worker at Christian Book Distributors and later as a Union Painter. Nothing was more important to Jarrod than his family and friends. He was always joking and fooling around with everyone about anything and he would often drive you crazy and have you laughing all at the same time. He is survived by his son Jarrod Comeau and his very special cousin Kim Comeau, his parents Nancy and Joseph Comeau, along with his brothers, Chris Bates, Joe Comeau and his wife RaShon, and Matt Comeau and his wife Marcia. He is also survived by and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Paul Bates, his grandparents Dorothy and Robert Diamond of Saugus and Helen and Cliff Bates of Lynn. Jarrod’s funeral services were private, and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. The arrangements for Jarrod were entrusted to the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
