I grew up playing baseball with Grid. He was my catcher in our younger years and, even then, I could tell he was intense, competitive, and full of life but equally kind...he showed me how to throw his incredible knuckleball. It was my pleasure to have known him and thank him for many fond memories. A man who persevered throughout. A true gift to this world. I will miss him.

Steve was a great baseball coach, mentor and friend to so many kids including my 2 sons. We met Steve through the Lightning Baseball Program many years ago. He was passionate about the game and all his kids.

In the many years I’ve been around, I have never met a more outstanding human being. He was caring, generous, and dedicated to all whose lives he touched. Especially anyone whoever played for Coach Gridley. Coaching was a labor of love and he truly loved all who were lucky enough to have played for him. I will miss sitting around Grid’s van after Champion Pub games enjoying priceless stories and laughs. Unfortunately, summer baseball will never be the same without him, but it was wonderful for so many years because of him.
Rest In Peace my friend. I will remember you forever.

Steve “Squid” was one of the most beloved members of Fenwick’s Class of ‘89. His constant smile and sense of humor would brighten anyone’s day. His fierce competitiveness on the field or on the court was one to be admired. He will be missed and fondly remembered. Prayers to the Gridley Family.

Thank you for being the best uncle I could have ever asked for. I hope you’re drinking Captain and Cokes while playing poker and overlooking the lake. I will forever hold you close to my heart❤️
