Obituary of Rosemary Elizabeth Hannigan

It is sad hearts and loving memories that the family of Rosemary Elizabeth (O’Keefe) Hannigan, age 86, announces her passing on May 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her adoring family. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Richard Hannigan with whom she shared over 52 years of marriage. She was born in Everett, MA and was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Tully) O’Keefe. She was raised in Revere, MA and lived in Peabody for the past 60 years. After high school, Rosemary attended The Whidden Memorial School of Nursing, graduating in 1954. She stayed under the employ of the Whidden Memorial Hospital in the emergency department for over 25 years and then continued her career at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center before retiring. Rosemary was an avid reader and enjoyed taking trips to Ireland and to her vacation home in Killington, Vermont. Her favorite endeavor though was spending time with her family and friends and sharing in their laughter and good times. She is survived by her two sons, Charles “Chuck” Hannigan and his companion, Gail Eaton of Danvers, and Edward and his wife Heather of Merritt Island, FL, her two daughters, Maureen Kaldes and her husband Charles, and Nancy Kocher and her husband Kenneth, both of Peabody. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Drew and Maura Kaldes, and Zachary, Raina, and Kali Hannigan. She was predeceased by her siblings, Philip, Rita, Edward, and Helen O’Keefe. A private Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Adelaide’s Church followed by her burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her honor to our living angels at VNA Hospice and Palliative Care, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180. Danvers, MA 01923 or to www.vnacare.org/donors
