Obituary of Helen M. Dobreira

Peabody – Helen M. (Mello) Dobreira 75, wife of the late Antonio Dobreira, died Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Graciosa, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Bernardino and Maria Luz (Silva) Mello. Helen came to the United States in 1954 at the age of nine, settling in Peabody with her family, where she has since resided. Mrs. Dobreira had been employed for many years as a housekeeper at Beverly Hospital until the time of her retirement. She loved to crochet and had made beautiful spreads and runners for family and friends. She also loved to bake and was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots. She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a grandson, Jonathan Dobreira, a great grandson, Luke Dobreira, her seven sisters, Jane Phillips and her husband, Bruce of Salem, Terri Steven and her husband, Don of Salem, Amanda Grant of Beverly, Grace Smith of NH, Nellie Provost and her husband, Mike of Groton, Delcina Goolsby of NH and Maria Rodriguez of Providence, RI, two brothers, Antonio Mello of NH and Gary Mello and his wife, Toni of Salem and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the mother of the late David A. Dobreira. Her funeral services will be private do to the corona virus pandemic. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
