Obituary of Edward J Lucas Jr.

Edward J. Lucas Jr. of Peabody, beloved husband of Frances M.(Rearson)Lucas, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Salem, a lifelong resident of Peabody, Edward was the son of the late Edward Lucas Sr and Elizabeth (Santarella). He was a graduate of Peabody Vocational Technical High School. A true “Peabodyite”, Edward worked as an auto mechanic, owning two businesses in Peabody and worked for the city of Peabody for 20 years up until his retirement. In his younger years Edward enjoyed working at a stable in Salem and tending to horses. Later he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Italian club, and the VFW Fidelity Post 1011, both in Peabody. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, he is survived by his two sons; Scott A. Lucas and his companion Melissa P. Houseknecht, David M. Lucas and his son Matthew M. Lucas, his daughter Natalie M. Branden, her son; Richard W. and his wife Sarah Branden, and Asa L. Branden, three sisters; Elizabeth Lucas, Debora Collins, Patricia Rogan, many nieces, nephews, wonderful neighbors and close friends. Edward was predeceased by his sister Christine Ball. A celebration of life for Edward will be held at a later date.
