Obituary of Jacqueline R. Katsapetses
Danvers - Born Jacqueline Ruth O’Brien, Jackie was a true "Peabody Girl" and of a generation that treasured loyalty, family, friendships, and most importantly, knew never to leave the house less than fully coiffed (she would have laughed at that). From her marriage of 56 years to her beloved husband, William, to the daily conversations and weekly shopping trips with her sister, best friend and confidant, Sandra, Jackie found happiness and contentment in every moment of life. This was never more evident than the time she spent with her grandson, Alex, the unequivocal pride and joy of her life. Jackie sang aloud often, sometimes beautifully, sometimes not, but she sang because she was happy. And that exemplifies Jackie perfectly, she was happy. Despite all the proverbial mountains she had to climb even when her body was less than willing, Jackie was happy. And all she wanted for everyone else was that they be happy as well. While there are simply too many anecdotes to share here it will suffice to say that if you knew Jackie then you knew acceptance, you knew comfort, and above all, you knew love.
Jacqueline exited the world this Thanksgiving the way she entered it, surrounded by love and kindness with the small exception of a gentle escort from Rosemary Clooney singing "I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places..."
She will be forever missed and never forgotten by her husband William, their children Nicholas and Krista who adored her beyond measure, Krista’s husband Andrew and their son, Alex. And of course Sandra and brother-in-law, Leo Malo, their daughter, Kimberley, predeceased by their son, John, and countless other family members and friends.
A private ceremony will be held this week but we respectfully ask for donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston in Jacqueline's name rather than flowers (donate.lovetotherescue.org) or a donation to the Danvers Food Pantry (danverscommunitycouncil.com/donate). Arrangements by the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
