Obituary of Annette Mandra

Annette (Barresy) Mandra 99, wife of the late Stephen A. Mandra passed away peacefully on Friday November 27, 2020, at home in Peabody, surrounded by her family. She was born in Boston on November 9, 1921 and was one of seven sisters and four brothers. Annette is survived by her daughter Josephine (Mandra) Amico and son-in-law Lou Amico of Peabody; her son Stephen J. Mandra of Hudson, NH; her grandchildren Stephanie Mandra and Marisa Stoehr; great grandchildren Victoria, Alexandra, Nathaniel and Savannah. Until retirement, Annette worked for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. She then worked part time for the Peabody Institute Library, as she loved books and was an avid reader. Her enthusiasm and support was instrumental in the writing of the book Famiglia with her younger sister Gloria Stevens. Annette was an active member of the Peabody Senior Center where she took classes in Bunka Punch embroidery and oil and glass painting. Her paintings were entered in the Peabody International Festival and won many awards. Some of her works are on display at various Peabody Institute Library locations. Annette will be remembered as a woman who was strong, courageous, elegant and most of all for her “unconditional love” of family. Mom wherever you are I will find you. Love you to the moon and back, Jo. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care in memory of Annette Mandra to support patient care at VNA Hospice & Palliative Care, Fund Development Office, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923 or via www.vnacare.org/donors.
