Obituary of Maria Hernandez

Peabody - Maria (Garcia) Hernandez 60, beloved mother of Anthony and Alex Hernandez, died Monday, January 4, 2021 peacefully in her home surrounded by her sons and siblings. To know her, was to love her, and she truly never met a stranger. Her personality and charisma were unmatched, and she had the incredible ability to light up any space she entered. Born in Bani, Dominican Republic on April 9,1960 and raised in Peabody, MA, she was a graduate of Peabody Veteran’s Memorial High School in 1979. She spent the majority of her career in retail, the most recent at the former Filene’s Basement in Peabody, where she was loved by all of her colleagues and even her regular customers. She was passionate about baking, and made special occasion cakes with love for her family members and friends. She loved listening to bachata music and calling her loved ones. She never left the house without her favorite sunglasses, statement jewelry, and lipstick. She is survived by her sons, Anthony and Alex Hernandez, her parents, Aliano and Margarita A. Garcia, her sisters, Margarita Garcia and Brenda (Rolando) Villalona, her brother, Fausto Garcia, her granddaughter, Audrina Maria Hernandez, her nieces, Lynette (Doug) Adams and Monique Villalona, Melissa (Wilbert) Pimentel and Christina Hernandez, Tiffany Garcia, her nephews, Steven and Christopher Garcia, Gamaliel Soto, her former husband, Dario Hernandez and members of the Hernandez family. Visitation will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 12:00 PM (noon). Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or a tree can be planted in her memory through the funeral home website.
