Obituary of Len Civitarese

Peabody – Leonard J. Civitarese 73, beloved husband of Miriam R. (Santos) Civitarese, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Elpidio “Pete” and Helen (Larrabee) Civitarese. He received his education in the Beverly school system. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the United States Army. Len had been employed for thirty-six years as a technician at Varian/Communication and Power Industries in Beverly. A resident of Peabody for the past thirty-nine years, Len enjoyed his daily morning bike rides, gardening, macramé and woodworking in his earlier years. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife with whom he shared thirty-nine years of marriage, he is survived by his loving daughter, Aili Civitarese and her fiancé, Jeffrey Hunt of Peabody, two sisters, Karen Civitarese and Jamie of Peabody and Nancy Smith and her husband, Joe of Beverly, a brother, John Civitarese of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
