Obituary of Herbert L. Mishel Jr.

Lynn - Herbert L. Mishel, 79, lifelong Lynn resident, died on January 13, 2021 just days after celebrating his 79th Birthday on January 9, 2021. Herb was proud to have grown up in the Brickyard and was more street wise because of it. At a young age, Herb graduated from Lynn Trade High School. He enjoyed all sporting events, collecting sports memorabilia and attending card shows all over the country. Herb raised his family in Swampscott, MA where he enjoyed coaching youth sports especially little league baseball. His love for travel extended to Aruba, Florida, Las Vegas, Camden Yards and bringing family to Hershey Park. He was also an avid movie goer, loved to talk about films and could talk your ear off about sports trivia. Herb worked many years for the Massachusetts State Highway Department and retired from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections. Herb was a loyal member of the St. Johns Evangelist Church in Swampscott and enjoyed their services. He also enjoyed daily breakfasts and walks up and down Lynn Shore Drive. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret ‘Rita’ Mishel and survived by his three children and their spouses; Pamela and Wayne Wright of Essex, Jonna and Marc Langevain of Nahant, Jonathan and Kara Mishel of Nahant and only grandson; Dakoda Langevain. Herb is also survived by Daniel Davison and Dana Walsh who were always considered sons. At his request, a small service with family only will be held.
