Hi Nana
It’s been 9 days since you have been gone and it still hasn’t fully hit me yet. The truth is that it’s going to be harder over the next few months. It will be the simple things that hurt the most. When I call dad to check on you and when I walk over to your house with dad to say hello. Dad is going to have it the hardest, you were not only his mother but his best friend. His routine every day included you. You were a beacon of light in this family and you are going to be so missed. Your kind heart touched so many people outside of this family as well , you were such a caring person.
Every time I close my eyes I have amazing memories of you when I was growing up. You were always there. Some of my favorite memories are when you and I would go drive around Peabody and figure out the good yard sales and go back the next day and go to every single one. I can also still hear your voice when dad would get breakfast ready for me and make coffee in the morning and tell me to call you to let you know it was ready. We had that routine for years. I’d call and say hi nana, coffees ready and you’d say ok, I’ll be right over. You’d walk over and sit with us and we’d just talk about anything.
Another memory is when you would babysit me for the weekend and I would be so excited because you always made chicken n dumplings, warm pudding and gave me lots of back scratches. You always told me I’ll scratch your back Sharon, but you have to scratch mine too. I always did but you only had me do it for about 30 seconds and in true nana fashion you’d sit with me for 5 minutes rubbing my back. We always watched murder she wrote or price is right and halfway in I’d be talking an look over and I’d tell dad your sleeping but you’d respond in resting my eyes. You always heard everything, you really were just resting your eyes and not sleeping.
I know your gone nana and I’m so sorry I didn’t see you as much as I should have. You were always going, that’s how you became the energizer bunny and it was so hard to know you couldn’t get up and go like you always did. I’ll always remember you as the energizer bunny with a heart of gold. You were such a strong woman and an even stronger fighter right up until you went to be with grandpa, uncle Georgie and uncle Ricky. I know the three of you are up there watching us, having coffee and you have Reggie, sandy and little bit running around at your feet so happy to see you. I love you so much nana and you are going to be so missed by everyone. You were the matriarch of this family and look how many lives came into this world because of you. Please keep an extra eye out on dad, I know you are anyways but he’s going to need it. He’s going to miss you the most and you know that.
I love you with all my heart nana. Vincent and Dominick love you so much and miss you.
Love you forever,
Sharon

A Wonderful Nana Poem
Unknown Author
We had a wonderful Nana,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandmother,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
She will like what she sees.
We love and miss you so much nana.
Love, Sharon, Vinny, Vincent and Dominick
