Obituary of Joanne Gardner
Peabody – Joan M. “Joanne” (Floyd) Gardner 88, wife of the late George E. Gardner Sr., died Friday, January 29, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Florida, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mildred (Roberts) Floyd. She was raised in Daytona and Jacksonville, FL. She moved to Peabody at the time of her marriage in 1949, where she has since resided.
Mrs. Gardner had been employed for many years at the former Sheraton Ferncroft Hotel in Danvers and had dedicated most of her life to raising her family. She was an avid bingo player but most of all, was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving her are two sons, Harry Gardner and his wife, Deborah of Peabody and Robert D. Gardner of Peabody, three daughters, Betty Jo Pope of Jacksonville, FL, Diane Perry of FL and Betty Jean Panopoulos of Peabody, multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister, Mildred K. Rich of FL, her good friend and caregiver, Donna Kroll and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late George E. Gardner Jr. and Richard A. Gardner and sister of the late Betty Jane Floyd and James Floyd.
Her funeral service will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
