Obituary of Caroline J. (Nicgorski) Smigliani
Caroline J. (Nicgorski) Smigliani died Monday at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Konstanty and Josephine Nicgorski. She lived there in her youth and attended Salem schools. She graduated from Salem High School then attended business school in Boston.
Mrs. Smigliani worked in the Administrative Office for Empire Clothing of Salem for many years before her retirement.
She enjoyed cooking, tending to her plants and flowers around the house, and was quite active at the Torigian Community Life Center as she enjoyed the events, shopping, trips, and activities.
She is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & John Atkinson of Peabody; two grandchildren, Brian Atkinson of NH and Kathleen Atkinson of Salem; two great-grandchildren, Brittani of Peabody and Katania of Salem; also, she leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the last living person in a family of 11 brothers and sisters.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in ST. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
