Obituary of John Edward Pacheco

John Edward Pacheco, 82, of Largo Florida and formerly of Peabody and Lynnfield, MA, died on Friday, May 25th at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cambridge, Ma on March 5, 1925, and was raised there graduating from from Lowell Technological Institute with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He then entered the US Army Air Corps and later the US Air Force serving in WW 11 and the Korean War as a bombardier, Radar Operator and Navigator. He retired as a Major from the US Air Force serving more than 20 years to his country as a decorated War hero. It was in the Air Force that he met and married his late wife, Elizabeth (Jones) Pacheco formerly of Peabody MA. Upon his discharge, he became a math teacher at the former St. Peter’s High School in Gloucester and later at the Peabody Junior High School for 15 years. He served as a member and chairman of the Lynnfield School Committee for many years. He also had a deep interest in boating and had been a Commander of the Marblehead Power Squadron. Mr. Pacheco and his wife moved to Largo Florida where he also served as a math teacher for 12 years at the Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School and the Countryside High School in Clearwater, Fl. He was a past Senior Education Officer (SEO) at the Clearwater Power Squadron and the Boca Ciega Power Squadron, and a 23 year member of the U.S. Power Squadron where he was a Senior Navigator and formerly served on the District 22 Public Education Committee. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Largo, Fl and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Largo Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 4years, E. Lois Pacheco of Largo, FL, a son John R. Pacheco of Palmyra, VA, a daughter, Mary A. Pacheco of Seffner, FL, a grandson, John M. Pacheco of Palmyra, VA, his sister-in-law, Mary Wright of Salem and two nieces and two nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday in Largo, Florida. A Military Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 2:45 P.M. in the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rte. 114, Peabody/Salem line. Local arrangements are by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home of Peabody.
