Obituary of Alice S. Freitas

Alice S. Freitas SALEM—Alice S. Freitas, 84, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Santos) Freitas. She lived in Salem for most of her life, where she attended schools, then moved to Stratham where she lived for the last 12 years. She graduated from Salem High School. Miss Freitas was employed for 30 years with P. Clayman & Son Shoe Manufacturers in Salem, where she was a Union Steward for years before retiring. Alice enjoyed crafts, going to yard sales, loved animals—especially dogs. As family was important to her. Since she never married, she fulfilled a nurturing role as she helped by raising many of her nieces and nephews as their mother. She is survived by three generations of many nieces and nephews, and was one of a family that included four brothers and sisters. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 P.M. to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
