Obituary of Emmanuel "Mikey P." Petradelis

Emmanuel Mikey P. Petradelis, 63 years, husband of Patricia (Imbruglia) Petradelis of Peabody, died unexpectedly at Beverly Hospital Thursday evening after being stricken on the basketball court while refereeing the Men’ s League Game at the Hamilton Recreation Hall. Mr. Petradelis was born in Lynn son of the late Pelopidas Pelop and Sophie (Demopoulos) Petradelis. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School Class of 1961 and was a lifelong resident of the city. From 1964 to 1966 he served in the United States Army as a SP4 E-4 with a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 123 Transportation Co APO 96312. Mr. Petradelis was employed for 30 years as a truck driver for the MK & Sons Express Inc. in Peabody. He was a well known sports official who refereed thousands of games on the North Shore for over 30 years and was the assignor of games for all high school sports and college baseball. He was a member of the American Legion Post 153, St. Vasilios Men’ s Club, very involved with the North Shore Boards of Officials Basketball and Volleyball Teams, Eastern Mass Soccer Officials, North Shore Softball Empire Association and the Track and Field Officials. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson and his wife, Jay C. and Filomena Martarano of Peabody; a brother and his wife, John Pepsi and Pauline Petradelis of Peabody; 2 grandchildren, Vanessa and Jason Martarano of Peabody; a niece and her husband, Sophia and Jonathan Petromelis of Peabody; a nephew and his wife, George and Danielle Petradelis of Hamilton; several aunts, uncles, cousins, 3 great nieces and a great nephew. His funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., location Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 9 p.m. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody MA 01960.
