Obituary of Mary R. (Buscanera) De Leo
Mary R. (Buscanera) De Leo, 86, of Peabody and formerly of Somerville and the North End, died peacefully Thursday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Lea De Leo.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Lena (Indelicato) Buscanera. She was raised and educated in the North End, and later moved to Somerville. She has spent the last 7 years living in Peabody.
While living in Somerville, she worked as a stitcher for the Sports Craft Company. She worked on many of the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots uniforms, mending and stitching during their seasons. She also worked as home health aid and respite worker. She enjoyed cleaning and baking, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality at the Sacred Heart Church in Somerville.
She is survived by her loving children, Al and his wife Joan De Leo of Methuen, and Marie and her husband Vincent Sullivan of Peabody, sister of Frank Buscanera of East Boston and devoted grandmother of six and great grandmother of six. She was the sister of the late Vincent and Michael Buscanera.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (Downtown Location) followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.
