Obituary of Lawrence John Powers
Lawrence John “Larry” Powers, 47, died at his home in Middleton surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 24, 2007.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Bernadette (Connors) Powers, his two sons, Brendan, 18, and Daniel 15, and his daughter, Michaela, 13.
Larry was born in Lynn, MA to Richard and Lucille (Evans) Powers on December 27, 1959. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Boz Lincoln of Northampton, MA, and his two brothers, Richard Powers of Florence, MA and Andrew Powers of Lynn.
Larry was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1977. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1981.
Larry was quick witted and enjoyed a spirited debate on a variety of topics. He was proud of his Irish ancestry and often shared memories of his lively trip to Ireland. His most cherished moments were spent with his wife and three children.
Larry was well-respected in his life both personally and professionally. He was a self-employed residential builder and when he was no longer able to work in the construction field, he retrained himself in architecture. Larry was a life long athlete who enjoyed basketball, skiing, biking, soccer and golf and a competitive game of washers. He was devoted community member who coached youth sports in the town of Middleton and actively participated in local events.
He was the cherished brother-in-law to Maryanne and Louis Buonadonna of Amherst, NH, Colleen Elliot of Peabody, Sean and Julie Connors of Peabody, Leo and Joyce Connors of Middleton, Sheila and Alex Konovalchik of North Andover, Peter and Linda Connors of Hamilton, and the favorite uncle of 23 nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
Throughout the past seven years Larry was blessed with the support of friends, relatives and community, for that his family is forever grateful. Larry’s spirit, love, strength, and courage will remain an inspiration to all that knew him.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Church, Middleton, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
