Obituary of Philippe A. "Phil" Young

Philippe A. “Phil” Young, 51, of Beverly, died Friday June 29, 2007 with his family at his side at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a lengthy illness. Mr. Young was born on September 23, 1955 in Lynn son of the late Martin W. Young and Dolly F. (Miron) Young. He was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School Class of 1974. He later pursued his education at Bunker Hill Community College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Salem State College. He moved from Salem to Beverly in the early 1980’s. Mr. Young was most recently employed as a taxi driver at the Salem Taxi Corporation in Salem until his illness. He previously drove for other North Shore Taxi Companies. Phil loved to write, act and read books and also enjoyed building model cars and airplanes with his son Cody. He was a member of the Pilgrim Church in Beverly and belonged to AA. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Cody Young of Beverly, Ashley and Freeman Scott of Peabody, Shannon and Peter Byron of Danvers and Brooke Delp of Beverly; his sisters and their spouses, Suzanne Nevins of Peabody, Jacqueline and James Savarino of No. Andover and Denise and Stephen Demakis of Concord NH; his grandchildren, Kathleen, Chelsea and Grace Byron of Danvers and Nevaeh Larkin of Medford and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be celebrated by Pastor David Staples on Thursday July 5, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (new location) Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may pay their respects on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Pilgrim Church, 302 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915.
