Obituary of Valentino J. Chiaradonna

Valentino J. Chiaradonna, 78, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died early Sunday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol (Collins) Chiaradonna. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Matilda (Zevillo) Chiaradonna. He was raised and educated in Lynn, and attended Lynn Public Schools. He has lived in Peabody for over 40 years. He was the owner and operator of Val’s Trucking for over 55 years, retiring just a year ago. Prior to his trucking business, he served for the United State’s Navy Sea Bee’s as an equipment instructor and was honorable discharged in July of 1962. He also was a member of the Lions Club of Peabody and served as King Lion, and was a past president of the Peabody Chamber of Commerce. He had owned several horses and raced them at Suffolk Downs. His is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Elizabeth Chiaradonna of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Adam Stickney of Raymond, NH, a brother, Alphonse Chiaradonna of Lynn and a sister, Joanne Rhudick of Tilton, NH, his three grandchildren, Lauren Chiaradonna, and Riley and Conley Stickney. He is also survived by his longtime companion of the past 30 years, Joyce Ramsay of Peabody and her family, Royanne and her daughter Cassy Ramsay, Nick and his wife Becky Ramsay and their four children, Michael and Anthony Masella and John and Joseph Ramsay, and Christopher and his wife Suzanne and their daughter Lily Ramsay. He was the brother of the late Fred, Vincent, Carmen, Salvatore, and Anthony Chiaradonna, and his late sisters, Josie, Louisa, Angie, Rosie, Antoinette, and Cheri. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
