Obituary of Anthony J. DiPietro
Anthony J. DiPietro, 78, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Rose (Lavorante) DiPietro with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage.
Born in Belmont, he was the son of the late Ciriaco and Evelyn (Cancellieri) DiPietro. He was raised and educated in Belmont and lived in Peabody for the past 39 years.
He was a 22 year career military man who served during World War II and the Korean War, and later with the National Guard. He first enlisted with the United States Navy for four years and the last 18 years with the United States Army with the rank of Master Sergeant and was stationed all across the country.
After the military, he worked as a postal letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Peabody for 19 years until retiring in 1985.
He was a lifelong member of the VFW Belmont Waverly Post and a member of the Peabody Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 1409. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, traveling, walking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also was a member of the Peabody Planning Board.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony J. DiPietro Jr., of Danvers, and Mark and Melinda DiPietro of Keene, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Kevin Stankiewicz of Peabody; a sister. SR. Evelyn M. DiPietro, ASC, of Columbia, PA, a brother, Louis DiPietro of Belmont; 7 grandchildren, Rebecca, Brad, and Jason Stankiewicz, all of Peabody, Joanie and Anthony DiPietro of Danvers, and Samantha and Zachary DiPietro of Keene, NH. He was the father of the late Donna Marie DiPietro and brother of six late brothers and sisters.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
