Obituary of Ralph J. Langley

Ralph J. Langley, 76, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Mildred (Sweeney) Langley with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He was born in Peabody, the son of the late John and Marion (Caisse) Langley and was educated here and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. Following his discharge, he worked in the construction and leather industries. He then was employed at the Eastman Geletine Corp. of Peabody for over 35 years working in various assignments and ended his career as a production supervisor in 1991. In retirement, Ralph enjoyed several trips with his wife including their favorite destinations of Disney World and Hawaii. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching high school, college and professional baseball and football. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening with his grandson Andrew as they shared a special bond for the outdoors. He loved to read to his grandson James and set up train tracks with him. Ralph’s special time was when he was with his family participating in their activities. He also enjoyed walking and was a member of the Eastman Geletine Walking Club for many years along with his wife. He was a lifetime member of the A.O.H. Div. 18 of Salem. Surviving him besides his wife are his three sons, Richard P. Langley and his wife Noel of White Haven, PA, Robert J. Langley and his wife Elizabeth M. of Peabody and Ralph J. Langley of Saco, Maine, his two grandsons, Andrew and James Langley of Peabody, a sister-in-law, Pauline (Tracchia) Langley of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Langley and Robert Langley. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, So. Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
