Obituary of Harry A. Baldwin
Harry A. Baldwin, 80, of Peabody, died Saturday at the Essex Park Rehab and Nursing Home in Beverly after a ten year battle with leukemia. He was the husband of 56 years to the late Sylvia (Bradshaw) Baldwin who died in 2004.
He was born in Lynn, MA on September 3, 1926, the son of the late Clarence A. and Florence (Cummings) Baldwin and was raised and educated in Lynn before moving to Peabody 60 years ago.
He was first employed as a machinist at the General Electric Co. River Works plant in Lynn for 10 years. He then worked at the former United Shoe Machine Corp in Beverly for 38 years which included being plant manager at the Harmonic Drive plant Division in Peabody prior to his retirement 15 years ago.
He was a quality control inspector and helped in sending the harmonic transmission drives buggies on the moon.
He was a veteran of WW 11 serving with the US Army and was a retrired Lt. Colonel with the Army National Guard.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Pauline Baldwin of Danvers, MA, two grandchildren and their wives, Bradley and Kristen Baldwin of Saugus and Michelle and David Carroll of Peabody and three great grandchildren, Erin, Sarah and Meagan Carroll all of Peabody. He was raised in Lynn by his foster mother, Mrs. James Tobin of Lynn for 22 years.
A Family Service was held on Tuesday at the family lot in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. West Peabody. Arrangements were by the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home of Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 in her memory.
