Obituary of Thomas H. Noonan

PEABODY Thomas H. Noonan, 82, of Garden Road, beloved husband of Harriette (Murphy) Noonan, died Tuesday morning at the Salem Hospital following a long illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Michael H. And Ellen (Murphy) Noonan. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from St. John’ s Prep in Danvers and attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester before being drafted into the Army. He served in the Infantry Division of the Southwest Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II in the United States Army. Upon returning from the war, he went to work in the family business of M.H. Noonan, Inc., a Contracting and Demolition Company based in Peabody and the North Shore, where he worked for over 40 years until his retirement 20 years ago. Mr. Noonan was an avid golfer and Bridge player, and was a member of the Salem Country Club in Peabody for many years. He is survived by: his wife, Harriette (Murphy) Noonan of Peabody, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; one son, Thomas H. Noonan, Jr., of Havertown, PA; three daughters, Elinor Bishop of Sarasota, FL, Harriet Noonan of Nassau, and Deborah Cassidy of Weymouth; seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard H. Noonan and sister Mary Louise Donlon. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St.(978.531.0398) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Lynn.
