Obituary of Philip J. Tighe
Philip J. Tighe, a retired Peabody Firefighter, died Wednesday at his home in Beverly after a long illness. He was born in Peabody on August 1, 1944, the son of the late Michael J. and Margaret (Buckley) Tighe and had resided here most of his life before moving to Beverly three years ago.
He was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1962 . He had been a Fireman with the City of Peabody for 33 years prior to his retirement 4 years ago. He enjoyed skiing in both New England and out in Utah and Montana and also enjoyed boating in the summer. Philip was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Following his retirement from the Fire Department, he worked at the Stop & Shop store on Route 62 in Danvers for the past few years.
He was the former husband of Lucille (Ciman) Tighe. He is survived by a daughter, Christine E. Tighe of Peabody, two sons, Brendan M. Tighe of Danvers and Brian M. Tighe of Beverly, a sister, Barbara Demsey of Bradford, MA and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the 82 Lynn ST., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Monday from the funeral home at 10:00 AM followed by Services in The First Church of Danvers, Congregational, 41 Centre St., Danvers at 11:00AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 in his memory.
