Obituary of William Betts Deisley

William Betts Deisley, 78, of Peabody died peacefully Saturday evening at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the husband of Emma (Dzierzanowski) Deisley. He was born in Lancaster, PA. on February 25, 1929, the son of the late Frederick and Emma (Butler) Deisley and was raised there before entering the US Navy. He served 20 years in the Navy during the Korean War and the Vietnam War being stationed in Brazil, Argentia, Newfoundland and in Quonset Point, Rhode Island prior to his discharge. He had served on the USS Champlain and other naval vessels. Following his discharge, he worked at the U S. Post Office in Peabody for 20 years retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of the US Naval Fleet Reserve and enjoyed gardening and working around his home. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons and two daughters -in-law, Joseph Deisley of Salem, Robert and Connie Deisley of Riverside, N.J., Thomas Deisley of Peabody, Edjohn and Isabella Deisley of Lancaster, PA and William Deisley of Brazil, Three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Richard Law of Peabody, Patricia and James Milton of Myrtle Beach, SC and Susan and Tassos Pavlou of Danvers, his seven grandchildren, Daniel and Christine Law, Elizabeth and Stephanie Deisley, Robin Milton and Katarina and Alyssa Pavlou, a sister, Jeanette Flory of Lancaster, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jane Deisley, Nellie Lane Mowrey and Samuel, Frederick J., Harry, James, Franklin R., Edward and Dennis Deisley. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 am from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Drive, Peabody Ma. 01960.
