Obituary of Cecilia (Furtado) Fialho

Cecilia (Furtado) Fialho PEABODY—Cecilia (Furtado) Fialho, 90, beloved wife of the late Manuel Fialho, died Monday evening at the North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Jose) Furtado. She emigrated to the United States, settling in Peabody 43 years ago. Besides enjoying her role as mother and grandmother, Cecilia loved birds, flowers, gardening, playing cards and Bingo or Beano at the Knights of Columbus in Peabody. She is survived by: three sons, Victor Fialho of FL, George Fialho and Eddie Fialho, both of Salem; three daughters, Maria Angel of Peabody, Luisa Collins, formerly of Beverly, and Edie Cordero of CA; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lubelia Stradley. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
