Obituary of Kenneth R. Currie

Kenneth R. Currie, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Friday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was the husband of Grace (Milliken) Currie and would have celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary this October 4th. He was born in Lynn on August 12, 1925, the son of the late Charles S. and Madeline (Flagg) Currie and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He then entered the Service during WW 11 serving with the US Army Air Corps in the American Theatre Operations. Following his discharge he began working as a retail route delivery milk man for United Farmers Milk Company for 20 years. He later worked at the Belle Steel Company in East Boston for 15 years. He then became a school crossing guard in West Lynn for 13 years and for the past 3 years worked in the Garden Shop and the Home Depot Store on Route 1, Saugus until his illness. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking pictures. He also liked to play cribbage and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. He had wintered in Orlando, Florida for many years and especially liked spending time with his family. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Diane Currie of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Thomas Rogers of Peabody, a brother, Charles Currie of Danvers, his grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Kellie Rogers, Kevin and Greg Rogers all of Peabody, Glen Currie and his wife Katherine and his great grandson Alexander Currie all of Beverly, Shannon Currie of Tewksbury, Katie and James Currie and a step grandson Chip Spicer all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Currie and Myrlene Farrell. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody, facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
