Obituary of Helen T. (Myers) Hegarty

Helen T. Hegarty PEABODY—Helen T. (Myers) Hegarty, 77, beloved wife of Robert Hegarty of Peabody, died suddenly on Saturday afternoon at the North Shore Medical Center-Union Hospital in Lynn. Born in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Ellen (Kehoe) Myers. She lived there in her youth, and graduated from Charlestown High School, Class of 1946. She lived in Peabody for the last 56 years. She worked as a Librarian at the South Branch of the Peabody Institute Library for many years until her retirement nine years ago. Helen enjoyed reading, music, and simply enjoyed being with her cherished family which was her most important priority. She will be dearly missed by her family including: her husband Robert F. Hegarty of Peabody, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. & Fran Hegarty of Danvers; three grandsons and their significant partners, Robert & Jennifer Hegarty of Peabody, Sean Hegarty & Erin Arsenault of Andover, and Adam & Danielle Hegarty of Lowell; three great-grandchildren Taryn, Rylie, and Chloe Hegarty; three sisters, Claire Marchesi of Chelsea, Ruth McLaughlin of Charlestown, and Fran Vita of Hudson, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Philip Myers and sister Joanne Peterson. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Cremation will follow the Mass.
