Obituary of Anna L. (Hopkins) Kugel

Anna L. (Hopkins) Kugel, 70, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, died Monday evening at her home, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Rolf Kugel. Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice (Mortonson) Hopkins. She was raised and educated in Malden and attended Malden Public Schools. She later lived in Peabody for over 35 years, spent three years living in New Hampshire and for the past 6 years, lived in Salem. She worked for Eaton Pharmacy in Salem and later for Tilton Pharmacy in Beverly before retiring a few years ago. Anna enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales, and more importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grand children. She is survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Jean Kugel of RI, Christopher and Lynn Kugel of Ipswich, Scott and Angela Kugel of Salem, Erik and Ellen Kugel of Walpole, five daughters and three sons-in-law, Kristein and Donald Page of VA, Robin Kugel of FL., Liza and Rich Davis of Beverly, Heidi and Don Marvill of Easton, and Dawn Kugel of Beverly, a sister, Marilyn Lawson of FL, and is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the mother of the late Christian Kugel and her late dog, Major. Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the North East Animal Shelter, 204 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
