Obituary of Richard DeRienzo, Sr.

Richard DeRienzo, Sr. 71. Of Peabody and formerly of East Boston, died Saturday afternoon at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Abbondanza) DeRienzo with whom he shared over 51 years of marriage. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Frank and Rosario (Guerra) DeRienzo. He was raised and educated in East Boston, later lived in Winthrop and has spent the last 37 years living in Peabody. Richard was a master at his craft of building and woodworking and was a retired carpenter of Local 218, Boston, MA. He had a great love for animals and also was an avid car buff who liked the 1960’s T-Birds and Mustang. He leaves behind three daughters and a son, Linda DeRienzo of Peabody, Patty Griffin of Salem, Angela DeRienzo of Danvers and Richard DeRienzo Jr, of Peabody, a grandson, Michael Griffin of Salem. In addition, he leaves behind six sisters, Anna Redmond of Stoneham, Lena Zagarella of Newton, Olga Martinec of Arizona, Betty Cataldo of Middleton, Netta Dewart and Lucy Dewart, both of Saugus,, two brothers, Victor DeRienzo of Florida, and Tony DeReinzo of Leominster, and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Angelo, Raymond, and Vincent DeRienzo. At the request of the family, a private Memorial Service was held on Tuesday at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home.
