Obituary of Demetris Michael

Demetris Michael 69 years, husband of Niki (Hassapis) Michael of Peabody, died unexpectedly Friday at his home. Mr. Michael was born March 25, 1935 in Koutsouvendi, Kerynia, Cyprus son of Vasiliki (Demetriou) Costi of Cyprus and the late Michalis Costi. He was raised and educated in Cyprus. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1975 making their home in Peabody, Massachusetts. Mr. Michael was auto mechanic who owned operated Jimmy’ s Foreign Car Service in Middleton until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He loved his grandchildren, was a handyman who helped many neighbors and also enjoyed gardening and traveling. In addition to his wife of 47 years and his mother, he is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Sue and David Michael-Brown of Boxford, Lefki and Merritt Michael-Maxim of Carlisle; 2 brothers, Kyriakos and Andreas Michael both of Cyprus; 4 sisters, Militsa Constantinou, Niki Charalambous, Maria Ioannou and Eleni Chatsinikola all of Cyprus; 4 grandchildren, Niki and Tyler Demetrios Brown both of Boxford, Demetri and Cassandra Niki Maxim both of Carlisle; several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
