Obituary of Francis J. Fortin
Francis J. Fran Fortin, 73, of Peabody, died Tuesday at the Salem Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Florence (Carter)
Fortin with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Mercil)
Fortin and was a graduate of Lawrence High School and had resided in Lawrence before moving to Peabody 26 years ago.
He was employed with the National Guard as a tank mechanic for 24 years at Ft. Devens , Ma. and later at the U. S. Army armory in Methuen prior to his retirement 31 years ago. He enjoyed making Truck Models and doing puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Morrissey of Beverly, 3 sisters and 2 brothers - in-law, Marguerite and John Somerset of Port Charlotte, Fl., Dorothee and Charles Roussel and Marcelle Gingras all of Methuen 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Morrissey of Beverly and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway
Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a
Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
