Obituary of William S. Callahan

William S. Callahan, 79, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died peacefully early Monday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late June (Goudreau) Callahan. Born in Saugus, he was the son of the late William J. Callahan and Catherine (Schaadt) (Callahan) Cassidy. He was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Public Schools. He later lived in Salem and has spent the last two years living in Peabody. Prior to his retirement, he worked for General Electric at the River Works Plant in Lynn as tool equipment attendant for over 20 years. He was an active member of several veterans’ organizations, including the Marine Core League and the Charles Schutte in Watertown, and also was a former Mason. He also enjoyed listening to classical music and he enjoyed Big Band Marches. He is survived by a daughter, Patrice Temple of Peabody, a granddaughter, Heather Temple of Peabody and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Marguerite Lecouras. Follow cremation, a graveside service will be held at the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
