Obituary of Edward F. "Dutch Van Heilen" Bourque
Edward F. “Dutch Van” Bourque, 74, died on Wednesday October 3rd at the Memphis Veterans Administration Hospital Medical Center in Memphis, TN following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Carl F.E. and Dorothy (Ferguson) Bourque. He lived in Peabody, graduating from the Peabody School system; he then attended Bentley School in Waltham. He enlisted into the US Army, serving in the European Theatre of Operations during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Corporal before his discharge.
An introduction into “Ham Radio” in his youth inspired him to become involved in broadcasting which he pursued for many years as an announcer in NH, MA, FL and TN, and as a TV game show host in CA. He lived in the Memphis area for a number of years prior to retiring to Sardis, MS, where he became interested and involved in computers. Of his many life experiences, his involvement with broadcasting was his favorite, and he felt computers used in broadcasting events and ideas to others
of importance to all.
He is survived by a daughter, Karyn Coppola of Seffner, FL, a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Bruce Wyman of Media, PA, three nieces, Beth Wyman, Jan Babikian, and Andrea Sampson, all of Media, PA, a nephew, Ned Wyman of Dillsburg, PA, and numerous friends and family throughout the country.
