James Macrinotis
PEABODYJames Macrinotis, 90, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Friday afternoon.
Born in Peabody on March 16, 1917, he was the son of the late Andrew and Panagiota (Sigallou) Macrinotis, who were Greek immigrants that settled in Peabody. He was a lifelong resident of the city, and attended Peabody schools.
Mr. Macrinotis worked for Flynn Tanning Leather Company before performing his patriotic duty with service in the United States Army during World War II.
Upon returning home, he continued working in the leather industry before being employed with the Lowe Mart Package Store for years. He then worked with the City of Peabody Water Department as a Supervisor, with 20 years of service at the Pumping Station in South Peabody before retiring over 20 years ago.
James was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, where he was active in many of their activities. He will be remembered for his independence combined with a fond affection of family, friends and humbly doing good deeds for others.
He will be dearly missed by friends and family, including: his sister and brother-in-law, Penelope & John Karahalis of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Grace Macrinotis of Peabody; four nieces, Lana & Robert Danish of Stratham, NH, Julia & Steve Velonis of Rowley, Susan & Bob DeVenne of West Newbury, and Paula Karahalis of Gloucester; two nephews, Alan Karahalis of Beverly and Andrew Karahalis of Peabody. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by three brothers Charles, Nicholas and Louis Macrinotis.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn ST. location, Peabody.
His funeral will be held gathering at the funeral home at 10 A.M. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vasilios Church Altar Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
