Obituary of Joyce E. (Dobson) Oliver

PEABODY—Joyce E. (Dobson) Oliver, 73, died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Friday morning on Route 1 in Danvers. Born in Lynn on January 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Julia (Gallivan) Dobson, she lived in Lynn in her youth. She graduated from Lynn English High School, and then the Burdette Business School. Mrs. Oliver worked in the Banking Profession for many years where she was a loan officer.. She worked for Security National, Saugus Co-operative Bank, and was a Vice-President and Assistant Branch Manager with the Warren Five Bank at the Peabody Square location. Joyce was active with the American Business Women’s Assn., and was a Notary Public and earned a Real Estate Licence. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene when in Peabody where she was the Choir Director, and also served as Youth Director, and Church Treasurer. When she became active at the West Congregational Church, she sang in the Choir and attended Women’s Bible Studies. She enjoyed bowling and cooking and frequently catered weddings and other events. She was active with the Sweet Adelines,. She will be dearly missed by family and friends, including: her three daughters, Mary Oliver Hellstrom & her late husband G. Franklin, Kathy Dennis-Prestia & her husband Michael of Danvers, and Nancy Oliver Smith & Brian of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Katie Smith, Brad Smith, T.J. Smith, Libby Dennis, and Matthew Dennis; a brother, Donald I. Dobson of No. Carolina; two sisters, Jane Erickson of Ipswich and Elaine Porteous of Middleton; a loving and faithful friend, Violet Cook of Peabody, and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facilty. Her Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the West Congregational Church, Johnson St., West Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Mem. Park, Peabody.
