Obituary of Donald Arthur Boyle

Donald Arthur Boyle, 73, of West Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died peacefully Sunday at his residence surrounded by his family after an 18month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the loving husband of Margaret “Peggie” (Russo) Boyle with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He was born in Lynn on December 12, 1933, the son of the late Richard and Marguerite A. (Graves) Boyle and was a graduate of Lynn English High School in 1952. He was first employed at the General Electric Company in Lynn. He then entered his father’s business, the Elm Street Diner in Lynn where he worked until they sold the diner in 1970. He then bought and ran the Boyle’s Elm St. Diner in Boston St., Salem for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1996. He later worked at the Court house Deli in Salem for a few years. He was known for his blueberry muffins and his famous Fish Chowder recipes at the diner. He also enjoyed watching the Patriots and playing with his grandchildren and his dog, Narla. Surviving him besides his wife are his five children and spouses, Donald J. and Laura Boyle of Woodbridge, Ct., Scott R. Boyle and his partner Luis Simmoes of Wareham, Shawn Francis and Marissa Boyle of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Leisa Marie and Stephen Connaghan of Georgetown and Patti and William Howard of Peabody, his nine grandchildren, Jennifer Belleville Tivnan and her husband Sean, Christy, Andrea and Sean Mc Hugh, Jason and Morgan Boyle, Alex and Cameron Forgitano and Drew Howard, two sisters-in-law, Ann Boyle of Beverly, and Carolyn Russo of Lynn and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Boyle and the brother-in-law of the late John Russo. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody Facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of North Shore 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 in his memory.
