Obituary of Maria da Luz Silva
Maria da Luz Silva, 72, of Peabody, died Monday
Evening at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Anselmo
Silva with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Graciosa, Azores Islands, Portugal, she was the daughter of the
Late Francisco and Ana Tomazia (da Silva) Cipriano and had resided in the Azores before moving to Peabody in 1967.
She had been employed at the former Ideal baby shoe co. of Danvers for 15 years and later with Altron Company of Wilmington for 12 yearsc prior to her retirement in 1996.
She was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and
Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Surviving her besides her husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Natalino and
Olinda Silva of Peabody, a grandaughter, Sonia Silva of Peabody, a sister, Angeolinda
Gregorio of the Azores, Portugal and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur
Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in
Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody, at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are
