Obituary of Theodore L. Kleros

Theodore L. Kleros, 87, of Salem and formerly of Lynn, died late Saturday evening at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (Vlacheas) Kleros with whom he shared over 61 years of marriage. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Louis and Anna Kleros. He was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Public Schools. He has lived in Salem for the past 50 years. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and recieved an Honorable Discharged in December of 1945. While in the Navy he served as a Chief Commissary Stewart and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal’s. After the war, he embarked on a 33 year career as a chef, first at the Chelsea Naval Hospital and later at the Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead before finally retiring 21 years ago. Mr. Kleros was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club, the NRA, and the Ipswich VFW. He also enjoyed spending time at the Salem Senior Center and was an avid reader. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fotis and Claire Kleros of Medford, and Peter and Dina Kleros of Beverly, two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Mike Pelletier of Farmingdale, Maine, and Robin and Kevin Goggin of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Rita Kleros of Lynn, a sister-in-law, Stella Calas of Peabody, 8 grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband James Champani, Melissa and Megan Pelletier, Jason Mineo-Goggin and his wife Jenny Yandell, Nicole and Gia Goggin, and Alexander and Aleni Kleros, and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Peter Kleros. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by Funeral Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the St. Vasilios Altar Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, Ma 01960.
