Obituary of Carmelo DiStefano
Carmelo DiStefano, 89, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Filomena (Scaglione) DiStefano with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage.
Born in Naples, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Concetta (Grasso) DiStefano. He was raised and educated in Italy, later lived in Venezuela and for the past 40 years, has spent time in Chicago, Florida and Peabody. While living in Venezuela, he owned and operated his own construction company.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and Thomas Bettencourt of Peabody and Renata and Michael Fermon of Chicago, four grandchildren, Jennifer Fermon, Jeffrey Fermon, Craig Bettencourt, and Keith and his wife Sheila Bettencourt, four great grandchildren, Oriona, Khalia, Ashleigh, and Soraya and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility followed by Services at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the ESPNS/ PACE Program, 9 Buffum St., Lynn, MA 01901.
