Obituary of Sherrie L. J. (Jansen) Hayes
Sherrie L. J. (Jansen) Hayes, 58 years, wife of William N. Hayes of Salem died Tuesday morning at the Don Orione Nursing Home in Boston after a long illness.
Mrs. Hayes was born April 28, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA daughter of the late Louis T. and Elizabeth (Golman) Jansen. She was raised in Natick and graduated from Natick High School class of 1961. She then attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio receiving a Bachelor in Psychology in 1965 and her Masters Degree in Speech Therapy in 1968. Prior to moving to Peabody in 1980 she had made her home in Swampscott for 5 years. She was a housewife and dedicated her life to raising her children.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lynn and the Huntington Disease Society, Mass Chapter in Framingham. As a hobby she enjoyed crafts.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna & Michael Fritz of Salem, Wendy Hayes of Brighton and Cyndee Ivy of Beverly; a brother, Theodor Jansen of Santa Cruz, CA; a granddaughter, Kelcie Webster of Beverly; her mother-in-law, Rose Mary Hayes, a brother-in-law, Donald Hayes, two nephews, Daniel and Nathan Hayes all of Oregon, OH. She was also the sister of the late Sigrid Gay.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church, 280 Broadway, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. Facility, Peabody (978-531-0398). Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Huntington Disease Society, Mass Chapter, 1253 Worcester Rd., Suite 202, Framingham, MA 01701.
