Obituary of Manuel C Silva

Manuel C. Silva, 72, of Peabody, died early Wednesday afternoon at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Maria (Alves) Silva with whom he shared over 49 years of marriage. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Eva Silva. Upon marrying his wife, he immigrated to the United States and has been living in Peabody for the past 49 years. While living in Peabody, he worked in the Leather Industry in Both Peabody and Salem for over 21 years before retiring. He was a member of the Post Portuguese American Veterans Club and the Our Lady of Help Hall, both in Peabody. He also enjoyed gardening, carpentry, painting houses and especially spending time with his grandson. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Charles Silva of Peabody; a daughter, Lisa Silva of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Maria Alvena Silva of Peabody; a sister, Fatima Vieira of Peabody, a grandson, Jesse Silva of Peabody and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the father of the late Hino Silva and brother of the late Edwino Silva, Maria Silva, and Eugenia Silva. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the NSMC Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960
