Obituary of Manuel A. San Jose

Manuel A. San Jose SALEM—Manuel A. San Jose, 76, of Salem, beloved husband of Maria Conceicao San Jose of Salem, died Saturday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. Born on the island of St. George, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel and Amelia San Jose. He lived there for 33 years, and emigrated to the United States, settling on the North Shore. He lived in Peabody and Salem for the last 40 years. Mr. San Jose worked on a farm while in the Azores. He worked in a local shoe manufacturing plant on Grove St. in Salem attaching soles to the shoes produced. Manuel enjoyed the peace and tranquility of his home with family and friends. He enjoyed watching classic television shows, Westerns and especially Bonanza. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. He is survived by: his wife, Maria Conceicao San Jose of Salem, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a son from a previous marriage, Manuel San Jose who died in Portugal, and a sister, Eva Silva. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
