Obituary of Jose Machado

Jose Machado, 83, of Peabody, died peacefully Sunday evening at his home surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was the husband of Rosa (Lima) Machado with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He was born and raised in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, the son of the late Jose and Margarita (Adelaide) Machado and had resided in Peabody for the past 40 years. He had been a trimmer at the Tan Rite Leather Company in Peabody for 20 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Club Luis De Camoes of Peabody. Surviving him besides his wife are two sons, Joao Machado and Adroaldo Machado both of Peabody, four daughters, Maria Fatima Rocha of Salem, Ariovalda Machado, Ildeberta Ferreira and Magueda Ramos all of Peabody, a brother, Gilermo Cordeiro of Lowell, fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jose Adalberto Machado of Canada. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
