Obituary of Dorothy E. Scannell

Dorothy E “Bunny” Scannell, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at her home following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Dickinson) Scannell. She was raised and educated in Everett, later moved to Revere and has spent the last 10 years living in Peabody. She worked for the Gillette Company in Boston for over 30 years and served in many capacities, the last of which was in the finishing department. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, playing bingo and she had a great love of animals and for her family. Family was everything to Dorothy and she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Joseph Ciampa of Peabody, two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Rose Marie Scannell of Peabody and Richard and Martha Scannell of San Diego, CA, her sister, Marion Drago of Saugus, she was a special nana to her two grandchildren, Victoria and Justin, and also was a aunt and “grandmother” to Matthew, Jamie, and Allison Drago, and also to 6 other special nieces and nephews, and is also survived by 7 grand nephews. She was the sister of the late George Scannell. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
