Obituary of Thomas J. Curran

Thomas J. Curran, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Somerville, MA, died Monday at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Osterberg) Curran. He was born in Cambridge, Ma on April 9, 1917, the son of the late Thomas and Delia (Connelly) Curran and had resided in Somerville most of his life before moving to Peabody . He was a graduate of Somerville High School and was a veteran of WW 11 serving in the European and Middle Eastern Theatre campaigns with the US Army. Following his discharge, he became a police officer with the Capitol Police at the State House in Boston for 18 years. He then became an Inspector with the Dept. of Public Utilities in the State Office Building in Boston until his retirement 25 years ago. He was an avid golfer playing in Rye, NH and in Woburn. He had been a life member of the D.A.V. Chapter 27 of Somerville and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Assn of the Commonwealth of MA. He is survived by a son, David Curran of Peabody, a daughter, Janet Guinee of Peabody, two grandchildren, Erin and Timothy Guinee both of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Curran. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn ST., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A family funeral service will be held on Thursday with burial in the family lot in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
