Obituary of Donald Philip Pierce
Donald P. Pierce, 60, of Peabody died Sunday, December 16, 2007 in Cape Coral, Florida following a short illness. He was born in Salem, MA on May 6, 1947, the son of the late Philip A. “Dutchy” and Mary (Harrison) Pierce and had resided most of his life in Peabody.
He was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and Bentley College. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 until his discharge in 1975.
Following his discharge, he began his career with the Mass Port Authority for thirty years retiring as an operation manager two years ago.
He had been a member of the Peabody Lodge of Elks, # 1409 and also served as a bartender there for many years. Donald also enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and George Sousa of Haverhill, and Kathleen Pierce and her husband Abe Crystal of Carrboro, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Cara Pierce of San Francisco, CA, his loving companion, Sue Mulholland of Lynn. a sister, Ellen Thompson of Georgia, a brother, Philip Pierce of Lynn and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Richard Pierce.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St. Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960 in his memory.
