Obituary of Steven W. French

Steven W. French, 53, of Peabody, died peacefully Saturday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family after a four year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Peggy (Pappanickloulos) French with whom he shared 28 years of marriage. He was born in Everett on June 27, 1954, the son of the late Stanley W. French and Florence Jean (Black) Pare and was raised in Peabody. He later lived in Beverly for 16 years before moving back to Peabody 12 years ago. He was first employed as a maintenance supervisor for American Properties in Woburn. Later he became an oil burner technician for the Scott Oil Company of Manchester by the sea for 7 years until his illness. He was a hobbiest and built and carved out many boats and other items. He loved to travel and was a strong supporter of the Red Sox and Patriots. He had a way with people that all who he came in contact with enjoyed his company. His most endeared treasure was his family whom he so greatly cherished. Surviving him besides his wife are his three sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Lenka French of Marblehead, Brian French and Matthew French both of Peabody, his step-father, Paul Pare of Cape Cod,his sisters and brothers-in-law, George and Linda Zambouras of Beverly and Joseph and Dena Smith of Danvers, a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Kristen Pare of Essex, a sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Mario Santos of Peabody, his surrogate family, Kevin and Pamela Remington and their family of Peabody and many nieces and nephews and extended family members. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St, Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Funeral Home to be followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice care of Hospice of No Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Center, 10 Brookline Place, West 6th Floor, Brookline MA 02445 in his memory.
